What is a Dental Implant?

A Dental Implant is a system used to replace a missing tooth and its root. It is the next best thing to having your own healthy tooth back & it feels exactly like your own natural  tooth would allowing you to eat even the hardest and chewiest foods again!pastedGraphic.png

It is the replacement of the root that can make implants so successful. This new ‘root’ (or screw) can then be used to anchor a single new tooth (a crown), new teeth (a bridge) or even to support a specialised full denture that will never move when you smile, speak or eat. Made from titanium dental implants are extremely strong and long lasting, they are resistant to decay and are extremely strong.
There are many types of dental implants, and many different types of dentists that place implants. At Frazer Dental we only use titanium or zirconium implants made by . We believe these are the leading implant system and they come with a lifetime guarantee. Our dental implants are placed by one of the most experienced implantologists in all of Europe, Dr. Juliana De La Rosa.

Dental implants can be used to replace several missing teeth. The good news is that in many cases you won’t need as many implants as teeth. If you have missing adjacent teeth, one implant can support more than one replacement tooth. A few implants can also be used to support a dental bridge. Having implants that support more than one replacement tooth can make implants more affordable for patients who have lost multiple teeth.

Teeth in a day

For many years the only solution for patients who had lost all of their natural teeth was to have unsecured dentures fitted. While dentures provide an adequate solution, because they are unsecured and not connected to the jawbone, over time problems often develop. These can include bone loss, giving the face a loose, sunken look; shrinking gums that cause dentures to become uncomfortable and ill-fitting, even prone to slipping out of the mouth at inappropriate moments; and difficulties with biting and chewing certain foods.

Full-mouth dental implants

Full-mouth dental implants are an alternative solution, which help to prevent many of these problems. Implant-supported bridges or dentures are more comfortable and more stable than unsupported dentures, making biting, chewing and even speaking easier. They are also designed to be a long-term solution to missing teeth. Because the implants connect directly to the jaw bone, they act much like natural tooth roots, meaning the bone is preserved better.

Same Day Smile (All on 4)

In some cases, for a full arch implant retained bridge or implant retained denture, it is possible to have a treatment called Same Day Smile (or All-On-4). This means that rather than placing implants and then waiting for them to heal with a temporary denture on top, the implants and their permanent bridge or denture are placed on the same day. 4 OR 6 implants are placed in your mouth and the bridge or denture is fitted on top, meaning you walk out of Frazer Dental  with your permanent new teeth.
